Airport pictograms

The assignment was to create a set of 16 airport pictograms. The location of the airport was not specified.

At the beginning I was inspired by Cubism ( the lamp on Jungmann Square, Prague by Emil Kralicek in particular) that is significant for the Czech Republic.

Over time, I moved away a bit from cubism and began to explore how simply can a hexagon raster be used to create recognisable shapes.

For the final part of the project I chose the material which I would imagine my pictograms in – concrete. I have come up with the idea of making molds using a 3D printer and casting the pictograms in concrete in my backyard at home.

A set of 16 pictograms created for an airport, based on cubism. Four selected pictograms were cast in concrete in the size of 20×20 cm.
